File manager
The Files page is a browser-based file manager for your home directory. Everything it does runs on the server as your own user, so it can do exactly what you could do over SFTP — no more, no less.
Operations
- Browse folders (breadcrumbs at the top); create files and folders.
- Upload files up to 256 MB each.
- Download any file.
- Edit text files up to 1 MB in the browser (binary files are refused).
- Rename / move, copy, delete (recursively, with confirmation).
- chmod with a numeric mode such as
644or755(no setuid/setgid/sticky bits; the home directory itself cannot be changed). - Zip selected files and folders;
extract
.zipand.tar.gzarchives into a folder.
Limits and safety
- Paths always stay inside your home:
.., absolute paths and symbolic links leading outside are refused. - Archives are checked before extraction: entries with absolute paths
or
.., links and device files are rejected, and there are limits on total size (1 GB), entry count (50 000) and compression ratio (100:1). - Large sites are faster to upload over SFTP.
