Databases
The server runs MariaDB. On the Databases page you can:
- create a database — the name is always prefixed
with your account name: choosing
shopcreatesacme_shop; - create a database user — same prefix, e.g.
acme_app. The password is generated by the server and shown once; copy it into your application's configuration right away. Regenerate gives you a new one if you lose it; - grant or revoke a user's access
(
ALL PRIVILEGES) to one of your databases; - see each database's size;
- delete databases and users (deleting a database destroys its contents; confirmation required).
phpMyAdmin
Browse tables, run SQL, and import or export dumps in the browser. The Open phpMyAdmin button on the Databases page signs you straight in, with access to all of your account's databases — no password to type.
You can also open
https://<server hostname>/phpmyadmin/
directly and log in with one of your database users
(e.g. acme_app) and its password; you then see exactly the
databases that user has been granted. Uploads for import are limited to
64 MB; use SSH (mariadb acme_shop < dump.sql) for larger
dumps.
Connecting from your application
Application settings:
host: localhost
port: 3306
database: acme_shop
user: acme_app
password: (the generated one)
Databases are reachable from the server only
(localhost), which covers PHP applications running on your
account. For remote administration, use an SSH tunnel with a
shell-enabled account (see SFTP & SSH):
ssh -L 3306:127.0.0.1:3306 acme@panel.hoster.example.
Names may use lowercase letters, digits and underscores; the total
length is limited (user names to 32 characters including the prefix,
database names to 64). Databases are created with the
utf8mb4 character set. The usual limit is 10 databases per
account.
